Final Fantasy fans can take to the skies in the Highwind in spring 2027, when Final Fantasy VII Revelations<\/a> launches on all platforms<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The game, its long-speculated subtitle, and the launch window were revealed live at the culmination of the Summer Game Fest showcase<\/a>, alongside a new trailer and gameplay breakdown shared by director Naoki Hamaguchi and Vincent Valentine\u2019s voice actor, Matthew Mercer. <\/p>\n

At the trailer\u2019s forefront are the Meteor and the Weapons, two prominent plot elements from the original game that will be front and center in Final Fantasy VII Revelation. The party is also shown parachuting off the deck of the Highwind, the iconic airship which will fully integrate into the open-world gameplay developed in remake project\u2019s previous games, Remake and Rebirth.<\/p>\n

New wardrobe options will be available to the party, but with a practical touch. \u201cFunction-Integrated Tactical Suit mode,\u201d or FITS, will allow the Final Fantasy VII Revelation players to focus each character\u2019s abilities, loosely corresponding to the jobs seen throughout the larger Final Fantasy series<\/a>. Cloud and Tifa are shown swapping between Freelancer and Black Mage garbs.<\/p>\n

Joining the playable roster in Final Fantasy VII Revelation are Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind. Vincent will be able to shoot elements in the environment during exploration, and can also transform into his Galian Beast form \u201cat the press of a button,\u201d instead of being a Limit Break. Cid, meanwhile, will fully embrace his roots as a dragoon, using his lance to close the distance to enemies or unleash sweeping attacks.<\/p>\n

The prior installments of the trilogy covered the events up through disc one of the original Final Fantasy VII, meaning fans can expect an intense ride as Final Fantasy VII Revelation takes them to Wutai, the Northern Cave, and Mideel. The rest of the world will be accessible as well\u2014with the Highwind allowing players to parachute to the surface, where they can still explore on foot or on chocobo-back.<\/p>\n

Several memorable set pieces from the original were teased during the trailer as well, such as Tifa\u2019s escape from Junon, the pagoda in Wutai, and the devastating superboss Ruby Weapon. With so much story yet to cover, Final Fantasy VII Revelation is immediately looking like the biggest game in the series by far.<\/p>\n

Players with save data from the previous games on the same system can unlock bonuses immediately upon launch\u2014Final Fantasy VII Remake data will unlock the Chocobo & Moogle Summon Materia, while Final Fantasy VII Rebirth<\/a> data will unlock the Phoenix Summon Materia. <\/p>\n

Immediately before the announcement of Final Fantasy VII Revelation, heroine Tifa Lockhart was confirmed to be joining the roster of Street Fighter 6 as part of its Year 4 DLC. Tifa was previously playable in Square\u2019s 3D fighting game Ehrgeiz in 1999, and now joins a modern-day fighter as a guest just like Final Fantasy XVI\u2018s Clive Rosfield and Final Fantasy XV\u2018s Noctis did in the last two Tekken games.<\/p>\n

Hamaguchi joined Street Fighter 6 director Takayuki Nakayama on stage to introduce the collaboration. Tifa\u2019s design and movement have been rebuilt for the engine, and Final Fantasy VII\u2018s Materia system and another undisclosed element will be added as well. She\u2019ll be joined in the season pass by three new original characters: Yasmine, Arjun, and Bosch, who previously appeared in the game\u2019s campaign mode. As of yet there\u2019s no confirmation if she\u2019ll be voiced in English or Japanese.<\/p>\n
