THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR THE QUINTE REGION ISSUED BY ENVIRONMENT CANADA EARLY SATURDAY AFTERNOON (May 6)<\/p>\n
Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain.<\/p>\n
Hazards: Wind gusts of 90 km\/h Local rainfall amounts in excess of 50 mm<\/p>\n
Timing: This afternoon into this evening.<\/p>\n
Additional information: Scattered thunderstorms are expected, which have the potential to produce wind gusts of 90 km\/h and small hail. Multiple rounds of thunderstorms are possible for some areas, which may give rainfall totals approaching 50 mm as well.<\/p>\n
When thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.<\/p>\n
Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. Strong wind gusts can damage trees, buildings and overturn vehicles.<\/p>\n
