Calgary police are investigating three separate shootings reported in different parts of the city during a 24-hour period.<\/p>\n
The shootings happened in the southeast and southwest quadrants, and while no suspects are in custody yet, police say there is no risk to the public after the incidents.<\/p>\n
The first incident was reported Friday at around 5:50 a.m. when a man with gunshot wounds approached a home in the 1200 block of 44 Street S.E. looking for help.<\/p>\n
It’s believed he had been shot in a nearby home, which he had been seen exiting with a man and a woman who fled the area before police got there.<\/p>\n
The man is in stable condition.<\/p>\n
That night, another shooting was reported at about 10:55 p.m. after a man was found with gunshot wounds in the 1300 block of 14 Avenue S.W.<\/p>\n
The man was taken to hospital in critical condition. He’s now in stable condition, but with life-altering injuries.<\/p>\n
Police found out a second person had been injured by what appeared to be gunshots as well, with that person believed to have been driven away from the area before police got there.<\/p>\n
That person was taken to hospital and determined to be in stable condition with life-altering injuries.<\/p>\n
The driver of the car was arrested on warrants unrelated to the incident. Nobody has been taken into custody in connection to the shooting.<\/p>\n
On Saturday at about 2:40 a.m., police say a man was found with gunshot wounds under a bridge in the 400 block of 5 Avenue S.E.<\/p>\n
Police believe he had been approached by two unknown men who demanded his belongings, before shooting him during a physical altercation.<\/p>\n
The man was taken to hospital in stable condition with minor injuries.<\/p>\n
The two unknown men fled the scene and haven’t been taken into custody.<\/p>\n
National Day Against Gun Violence <\/p>\n
Police highlighted the timing of the shootings, two of which occurred on the National Day Against Gun Violence.<\/p>\n
The day has been commemorated across Canada on the first Friday of every June since 2023.<\/p>\n
