{"id":720821,"date":"2026-06-07T10:49:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-07T10:49:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/720821\/"},"modified":"2026-06-07T10:49:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-07T10:49:11","slug":"f1-news-verstappen-already-knows-preferred-lambiase-successor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/720821\/","title":{"rendered":"F1 News: Verstappen already knows preferred Lambiase successor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(GMM) Max Verstappen says he already knows who he wants to replace long-time race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase when the Briton eventually moves on.<\/p>\n<p>Lambiase is set to leave the pitwall and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoracing1.com\/pl\/492091\/formula-1-news-mekies-says-lambiase-to-be-mclaren-boss-as-rumors-intensify\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">join McLaren in a senior leadership role<\/a>, with widespread speculation suggesting he could ultimately become either co-team principal alongside Andrea Stella or even Stella\u2019s successor.<\/p>\n<p>For now, however, the famous Verstappen-Lambiase partnership remains intact.<\/p>\n<p>The four-time world champion admits the transition will be gradual.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/viaplay.com\/nl-nl\/sport\/motorsport\/formula-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Viaplay<\/a>, Verstappen revealed he already has a preferred replacement in mind.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know who I want alongside me, and he\u2019s already in the team,\u201d he said in Monaco.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis integration, however, will be gradual. It\u2019s still too early.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Verstappen acknowledged that, as Lambiase\u2019s departure approaches, their working relationship will inevitably begin to change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLogically, towards the end of the season, the information shared with Gianpiero will be increasingly less,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s aware of this and understands it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Replacing Lambiase will be one of the most important decisions Red Bull faces in the coming years, given the pair\u2019s close relationship and enormous success together.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership delivered four consecutive world championships and has become one of the most recognizable engineer-driver pairings in Formula 1 history.<\/p>\n<p>Former Red Bull advisor Dr Helmut Marko confirmed the team is already planning ahead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe replacement will be an experienced person who has already held a similar position,\u201d the Austrian is quoted as saying.<\/p>\n<p>Simon Rennie Rumored: He filled in for Lambiase in 2025<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-471845\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/simon-rennie.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"1026\"\/>Engineer Simon Rennie at work in the Oracle Red Bull Racing garage during day two of F1 Testing at Bahrain International Circuit on February 12, 2026 in Bahrain, Bahrain.
