Miranda Lambert was awarded the Icon Award by Billboard this week.In her acceptance speech, she pledged to use her position for \u201cgood.\u201dShe\u2019s long been a mentor to up-and-coming singers in country music.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s hard to deny that Miranda Lambert<\/a> is an icon, especially now that she has not one, but two Icon Awards on her shelf. The country megastar was presented a new trophy at the 2026 Billboard Country Power Players event in Nashville on June 3 (she received the Country Icon Award at the 2024 People\u2019s Choice Country Award, as well).<\/p>\n Miranda accepted her award in person, noting how thankful she is to be a part of the country music community and for their support through the \u201cgood, bad, and ugly.\u201d She\u2019s been a proud \u201cmember\u201d for some time now: Her first No. 1 hit on the Billboard Country Airplay chart came in 2010 with \u201cThe House That Built Me,\u201d followed by six more over the years.<\/p>\n \u201cThe House \u2026\u201d songwriter Tom Douglas presented Miranda with her Icon Award, calling her \u201cthe kind of tough that teaches\u201d future generations of country stars.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m trying to lift up the next generation,\u201d she told a crowd of her peers on the rooftop of Luke Combs\u2019 Category 10 bar in downtown Nashville on Wednesday. \u201cCountry music is my life, it\u2019s what I\u2019ve dedicated my entire adulthood to, and I still feel like even though I\u2019ve been doing this for 23 years, I have 23 good ones left in me, I hope. I give my all to this.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThank you for all the support all these years,\u201d the 42-year-old added, concluding that country music is her \u201clife\u201d and \u201cheart.\u201d<\/p>\n Miranda is a woman of her word. She consistently acts as a mentor for country singers following in her footsteps, most often women, like Ella Langley \u2014 a rapidly rising star who reminds the Texas native of her younger self. Miranda says she tries to use her 20-plus years of experience in the country music spotlight to help the younger generation, and to \u201cbe there for them and answer questions,\u201d she told Billboard<\/a> in a May cover story. \u201cSometimes I know the right way to do it, because I did it wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n Ella\u2019s smash hit \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas\u201d has Miranda\u2019s pen on it; it\u2019s a co-write between the two women, as well as Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor. But its success has been unprecedented, even by a writer as seasoned as Miranda.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was not on my bingo card for \u2018Choosin\u2019 Texas\u2019 to take over the world.
