August 15, 2025-Emporia State returns all three primary defenders from last year’s squad led by All-MIAA performer Abby Bachman<\/a>.

\nBachman is in her fourth year at Emporia State. She was named Third Team All-MIAA as a junior, her third consecutive season with All-MIAA recognition as she was named Honorable Mention each of her first two seasons with the Hornets. She has started 62 of 63 matches in her career at Emporia State.
\n\u00a0
\nRuby Ryan<\/a> is in her second season with the Hornets after transferring from Middle Tennessee State. She started each of the 16 matches she played in last year with a team high 1,390 minutes.\u00a0 She scored a goal at Neb.-Kearney.
\n\u00a0
\nAubrey Seltman<\/a> is in her second year at Emporia State. She was named All-Region at defender in her senior year at Liberty North HS. She led the Eagles to undefeated state championship as a junior and a return trip to the state tournament in her senior season.
\n\u00a0
\nAsta Kristindottir<\/a> is in her fourth year at Emporia State after sitting out last season with a medical redshirt.\u00a0 She started 17 of 22 matches for the Hornets as a sophomore in 2023 and has 40 career starts. She had two goals against Central Missouri in the 2022 MIAA Championship match.

\nThe Hornets will begin exhibition play on Sunday, August 17 with a friendly at Butler CC.\u00a0 Kick-off is set for 7:30 pm in El Dorado, Kan.\u00a0 The regular season kicks off on Thursday, September 4 at Drury in Springfield, Mo.

\nThere is one graduate transfer student, three seniors, one junior, one sophomore and four freshmen among the defenders.
\nEight of the ten defenders started their careers at Emporia State.
\nThree defenders are from Missouri, two each from Kansas and Texas, with one from Louisiana, England and Iceland.
