\n\tTribeca Film Festival<\/a> has responded after an offensive Palestine joke made by The Wedding Entertainer star Elon Gold<\/a> at the movie\u2019s Thursday premiere.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a statement, a festival spokesperson condemned the \u201coffensive and unacceptable\u201d joke Gold made to a red carpet influencer about being \u201craped by two Israeli dogs\u201d while filming there, making light of the alleged systemic torture and rape of Palestinians in Israeli prisons.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Tribeca Festival is aware of the concerns raised regarding a clip circulating on social media and unequivocally condemns the offensive and unacceptable remarks made by Elon Gold and Lizzy Savetsky at the premiere of The Wedding Entertainer (The Tale of Moishe Badhan),\u201d the statement reads.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSexual violence and human suffering should never be mocked or minimized,\u201d Tribeca added. \u201cThe comments do not reflect the Tribeca Festival\u2019s values, and we regret the hurt and offense they have caused. We have not been able to reach the filmmakers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile speaking to Savetsky on Thursday\u2019s red carpet of the Village East Cinema, Gold took pride in the Gidi Dar-helmed film shooting in Israel, while making a joke about the reported rape of Palestinians in Israeli prisons<\/a>, including alleged instances of beastiality.<\/p>\n

\n\tGold said in the widely circulated clip, \u201cIt\u2019s a really big deal, and for a film made in Israel, that\u2019s pretty damn cool. I was only raped by two Israeli dogs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI thought they only raped Palestinians,\u201d quipped Savetsky, to which Gold responded, \u201cNo, I got also a dog.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSources tell Deadline that Savetsky was not credentialed by Tribeca Film Festival, but she was invited to cover the red carpet by the film\u2019s team.<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing the coordinated Hamas attacks on Israel, which killed 1,200 people and took more than 250 hostages, investigators and human rights organizations have reported systemic torture and rape<\/a> against Palestinians in Israeli prisons, including alleged beastiality.
