\n\tIs Howard Stern<\/a> about to end his two-decade-plus run at SiriusXM<\/a>? The popular radio personality says he will address reports that he\u2019s been \u201cfired\u201d by the company on his show next month.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe rumors were kicked off by an Aug. 5 report by the Sun U.K. tabloid, which, citing an anonymous \u201cinsider,\u201d claimed SiriusXM would not renew Stern\u2019s contract, which expires at the end of 2025. SiriusXM has declined to comment.<\/p>\n

\n\tNow Stern is turning the swirling speculation into a tune-in opportunity. On Friday, \u201cThe Howard Stern Show\u201d account on X posted a promo<\/a> that said Stern will speak about his future at SiriusXM on his show Tuesday, Sept. 2. (Watch the full video below.)<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 45-second clip starts with quotes from TV commentators who have weighed in on the rumors: \u201cThe downfall of Howard Stern\u201d; \u201cThe shock jock just got his walking papers from SiriusXM\u201d; and \u201cThe guillotine is coming for Howard Stern.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tA narrator then says in a voiceover: \u201cThe tabloids have spoken. Howard Stern: Fired. Canceled.\u201d It continues, \u201cIs it really \u2018Bye-Bye Booey\u2019?\u201d \u2014 a reference to the show\u2019s longtime producer, Gary \u201cBaba Booey\u201d Dell\u2019Abate.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cChaos is swirling at \u2018The Howard Stern Show,’\u201d the teaser continues. \u201cDid staffers talk to the press? Are writers withholding their best jokes? Nobody knows what\u2019s going on \u2014 or who to trust.\u201d The narrator concludes: \u201cNow we can reveal all the questions will be answered. All the truths will be told by the one man truly on the inside: Howard Stern will speak. Tuesday, September 2.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStern has for years been the highest-paid radio personality, reportedly earning upwards of $100 million annually under his long-running SiriusXM contract. Stern first signed with the satellite radio outlet in 2004; his current contract expires at the end of 2025.<\/p>\n

\n\tRegarding speculation Stern may not renew his deal, SiriusXM president and content chief Scott Greenstein said on the company\u2019s earnings call in April 2024 that if a \u201csingular talent\u201d opts to retire, \u201cyou come up with a strategy of what is your current demo and your target audience and you look at what would be best suited for that at any given time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cNo one pretended when Johnny Carson or others retired that the new group would replace them,\u201d Greenstein said on a subsequent investor call. \u201cThey were just simply filling in on those slots. So Howard, we hope he continues forever\u2026 He continues to excel, get us awareness and everything else that goes with what he does.\u201d<\/p>\n
