After years of waiting for something to new to follow on from the remade original trilogy, it’s time for Spyro fans to celebrate.<\/p>\n
A brand new game in the beloved dragon-based platforming series, Spyro: A Realm Beyond, was announced during the Xbox Games Showcase at Summer Game Fest 2026<\/a>.<\/p>\n There had been rumours of a new Spyro game<\/a>, but it’s very nice to have this officially confirmed. Activision unleashed the first trailer at the show, and more details have arrived online since.<\/p>\n So, what do we know about Spyro: A Realm Beyond? What’s it all about, and when is it coming out? Keep on reading to find out!<\/p>\n When is the Spyro: A Realm Beyond release date?<\/p>\n The Spyro: A Realm Beyond release date will occur in Spring 2027, the developers have confirmed.<\/p>\n This means you’ll be playing Spyro 4 in the first half of next year – if we had to guess a specific month, we’d point to April or May 2027.<\/p>\n The game will launch on Xbox Series X\/S, Xbox Game Pass, PC, PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2.<\/p>\n As and when the official release date is confirmed, we’ll be sure to update this page with all the details.<\/p>\n Want to see this content?<\/p>\n Accept and continue<\/p>\n What to expect from Spyro: A Realm Beyond<\/p>\n Spyro: A Realm Beyond has been described as “a brand-new game with the titular dragon at the helm” on the official Xbox Wire blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n The blog also tells us that Toys For Bob are the company developing this new game. Returning players will recognise that name – it’s the same company that made the well-received remakes of the original trilogy.<\/p>\n Toys For Bob have redesigned Spyro’s visual design and added something major to his skillset – proper, unimpeded flight!<\/p>\n Studio head Paul Yan confirmed this to the Xbox blog, saying, “In Spyro: A Realm Beyond, Spyro will experience the freedom of true dragon flight.<\/p>\n “He\u2019s small, but mighty, so we had to do a lot of different experiments to explore how he could be both nimble and still be very physical when actively pushing his way through the air.”<\/p>\n Yan also teased the locations of the game, noting, “We know first-hand that a big part of what makes a Spyro game really resonate is having a wide variety of colourful, whimsical spaces with activities, characters, and treasures that motivate you to explore every nook and cranny.<\/p>\n “In Spyro: A Realm Beyond, the sense of discovery is absolutely core to this new adventure.
