Denny Hamlin<\/a> roared to victory at the high-speed 2-mile oval of Michigan International Speedway. Hamlin has now tied Kyle Busch<\/a> for 9th all-time in career wins at a total of 63. His win is his 3rd of the 2026 regular season and 4th, including the All-Star Race at Dover.<\/p>\n

Hamlin had an up-and-down weekend, which included earning pole position in qualifying, and then was sent to the rear<\/a> amid necessary car adjustments. Despite the setback, Hamlin found victory lane after 200 laps in Brooklyn, Michigan.<\/p>\n

Although Hamlin was sent to the rear, more cars were added to the penalty list set out by NASCAR<\/a>. In reality, Hamlin started 33rd out of 37 cars in the field.<\/p>\n

The lead was eventually found by Hamlin in the third stage. He cleared Daniel Suarez on lap 163 and won the race by 11.11 seconds over second-place finisher Erik Jones.<\/p>\n

The race was very nasty, with 7 incident-induced cautions on the day. All 7 cautions happened in the first 150 of 200 total laps, including 2 cautions in the first 9 laps.<\/p>\n

The biggest loser on the day is perhaps Tyler Reddick. On a lap 83 restart, Carson Hocevar started at the bottom lane of row 4, where he got into the rear of John Hunter Nemechek<\/a>. The contact triggered Nemechek to spin, resulting in a multi-car accident that involved Reddick. Reddick’s car spun to the bottom of the track and hit the inside-barrier wall near the end of the frontstretch. Reddick endured too much damage to his car to return to the race.<\/p>\n

Another big hit happened on lap 148. On turn 3, Chase Elliott<\/a> was racing at the bottom of the track when his car got loose. He was close enough to Christopher Bell, who was racing just above him, and the two drivers both lost control of their vehicles amid contact after Elliott got loose. The drivers hit the outer wall very hard, leaving a dent in the barrier and raising the red flag, allowing NASCAR<\/a> to repair the damaged safety barrier.<\/p>\n
