{"id":722272,"date":"2026-06-08T04:02:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T04:02:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/722272\/"},"modified":"2026-06-08T04:02:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T04:02:08","slug":"toronto-man-threatening-people-he-perceived-to-be-palestinian-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/722272\/","title":{"rendered":"Toronto man threatening people he \u2018perceived to be Palestinian\u2019: police"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A 32-year-old man from Toronto is facing several charges in connection with a hate-motivated threatening incident in Scarborough over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Toronto police say on June 5, 2026, they were called to the area of Lawrence Avenue East and Pharmacy Avenue for reports of unknown trouble.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Investigators allege a male attended a business in that area and uttered threats at victims whom he \u201cperceived to be Palestinian.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The suspect, according to police, had a weapon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Shafik Al Jawhari, 32, of Toronto, was subsequently arrested and charged with one count each of assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous, and fail to comply probation order as well as two counts of uttering threats to cause death.
