{"id":722357,"date":"2026-06-08T05:02:13","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T05:02:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/722357\/"},"modified":"2026-06-08T05:02:13","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T05:02:13","slug":"two-new-wildland-fires-reported-including-one-near-agnew-lake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/722357\/","title":{"rendered":"Two new wildland fires reported, including one near Agnew Lake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There were two new wildfire reported in the Northeast Region on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"fa5xl8wa\">Sudbury 10\u00a0is a 0.2 hectare fire located on the north shore of Agnew Lake and is not under control.<\/p>\n<p>Timmins 12 is a 0.5 hectare fire located 1 kilometre southwest of Kaneki Lake and is also\u00a0not under control.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of this update, there are seven\u00a0active wildland fires in the Northeast Region. Of those fires, three\u00a0not under control, two\u00a0are being held, and two\u00a0are under control.<\/p>\n<p>Of note Timmins 9 has been remapped at 3,154 hectares and remains not under control. First confirmed on\u00a0May 31 and measured\u00a03,154 hectares.<\/p>\n<p>There are 15\u00a0Ontario FireRanger crews and a 20-person Incident Management Team are dedicated to this fire. Bucketing helicopters continue to support ground crews, while heavy equipment is constructing control lines in priority areas.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Natural Resources is reporting warm and dry weather returning to the area of Timmins 9, marking\u00a0the beginning of a drying trend that is expected to last for the next two\u00a0days.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry has also issued updated restrictions in place in the area of Timmins 9<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Ministry of Natural Resources\u2019 Timmins -Kirkland Lake District has invoked an Implementation Order now in effect for the purposes of public safety and fire suppression, for areas near TIM009, under the Emergency Area Order EAO 2026-003 declared on June 2, 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"fab6k8g\">All travel and use of the Gogama Unit Road starting from Highway 144 (UTM 17T 445914E 5284849N) northbound to the Pineland Road intersection (UTM 17T 439549E 5315737N) as outlined in the attached Implementation Order (IO) map within the Emergency Area Order (EAO), is prohibited unless authorized by an Exemption Permit issued by the Timmins \u2013 Kirkland Lake District Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR).<\/p>\n<p class=\"fab6k8g\">All travel and use of the trail located behind the Old Vagabond restaurant (UTM 17T 445147E 5283405N) leading to the Gogama Unit Road as outlined in the attached IO map within the EAO, is prohibited unless authorized by an Exemption Permit issued by the Timmins \u2013 Kirkland Lake District MNR.<\/p>\n<p class=\"fab6k8g\">All travel and use of the Kenetogami Lake Road off Highway 144 (UTM 17T 449943E 5288410N) as outlined in the IO map within the EAO, is prohibited unless authorized by an Exemption Permit issued by the Timmins \u2013 Kirkland Lake District MNR.<\/p>\n<p class=\"fab6k8g\">All travel and use of the Tatachikapika Lake Road off Highway 144 (UTM 17T 454045E 5308251N) as outlined in the IO map within the EAO, is prohibited unless authorized by an Exemption Permit issued by the Timmins \u2013 Kirkland Lake District MNR.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"fab6k8g\">View the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lioapplications.lrc.gov.on.ca\/ForestFireInformationMap\/index.html?viewer=FFIM.FFIM\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">new and active fire situation<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lioapplications.lrc.gov.on.ca\/ForestFireInformationMap\/index.html?viewer=FFIM.FFIM&amp;locale=en-US&amp;LayerTheme=RestrictedFireZones\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">restricted fire zones<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Follow Ontario\u2019s Outdoor Burning Regulations\u202f<\/p>\n<p>Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services would like to remind the public to use caution when performing any outdoor burning. In order to dispose of yard waste and woody debris, we encourage you to use methods such as composting or using your local landfill. If you must burn, follow Ontario\u2019s Outdoor Burning Regulations.\u202f<\/p>\n<p>Fires are to be ignited no sooner than two hours before sunset and are to be extinguished no later than two hours after sunrise. Always have tools\/water adequate to contain the fire at the site.
