\n\tFCC boss Brendan Carr went after journalist Scott Pelley<\/a> for claiming in his recent New York Times profile<\/a> that it \u201chadn\u2019t occurred\u201d to him that he would be fired from \u201c60 Minutes<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBy \u201cthat behavior,\u201d Carr means Pelley\u2019s recent and very public distaste for the new regime at CBS News and \u201c60 Minutes.\u201d It was reported that on May 25, Pelley lashed out<\/a> at the show\u2019s new executive producer, Nick Bilton<\/a>, telling the former NYT tech columnist that he had \u201cslender qualifications\u201d for his job. Bilton was recruited to \u201c60 Minutes\u201d by CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss<\/a>, whom Pelley accused of \u201cmurdering\u201d the show through her leadership during the same meeting.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn June 2, Bilton released a letter claiming that CBS News and Pelley failed to reconcile, and that Pelley was fired from \u201c60 Minutes.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYour antipathy to the future of the show has come through loud and clear,\u201d Bilton wrote. \u201cAnd I have heard you. I therefore write on behalf of CBS News to inform you that your employment with CBS is terminated effective immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tElsewhere in his NYT interview, Pelley suggested that Paramount-Skydance, the parent company of CBS News, needs to remove Weiss as editor-in-chief. Pelley alleged that \u201ctelevision is not her thing,\u201d<\/a> and that \u201c60 Minutes\u201d is in desperate need of \u201cadult supervision.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe have people who\u2019ve been installed in these jobs who through no fault of their own have no experience in television. They don\u2019t know what they\u2019re doing,\u201d Pelley told the Times\u2019 Lulu Garcia-Navarro. \u201cAnd there\u2019s a subtle political bias that I\u2019ve never seen at \u201960 Minutes\u2019 before, or at CBS News before.
