Another year, another provincial medal for Claremont\u2019s golf program.<\/p>\n
The Spartans earned bronze at the 2026 3A B.C. High School Golf Championships, marking the school\u2019s third provincial podium finish since 2019.<\/p>\n
The tournament, which ran from June 2-4 at GreenTee Country Club in Langley, saw the Spartans finish third in the 22-team field. In B.C. high school golf, teams carry five players, with the top four scores each day counting toward the team total.<\/p>\n
Claremont posted a two-day total of 607 after rounds of 308 and 299 to finish 11 over par.<\/p>\n
Two Vancouver schools finished ahead of the Spartans, with St. George\u2019s claiming its fifth consecutive provincial title and Lord Byng taking silver for the fourth straight year.<\/p>\n
The bronze medal is Claremont\u2019s third provincial medal since 2019, following a gold that year and a bronze in 2022. The Spartans have now won seven provincial medals since the tournament began in 1971.<\/p>\n
Claremont remains the only Greater Victoria school to reach the podium at the 3A provincial championships since the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s roster featured Charlie Pearcey, Owen Beaulac, Ryan Matsubuchi, Rohin Jhawer and Braxton Lise.<\/p>\n
Claremont was one of three Greater Victoria schools to qualify for the tournament by reaching the podium at the 3A Island Championships in May at Gorge Vale Golf Club. At that event, the Royal Bay Ravens won the title at eight under par, followed by Claremont and Oak Bay High.<\/p>\n
After winning the Island title, Royal Bay finished fifth overall at the B.C. tournament with a two-day score of 610 after rounds of 301 and 309.<\/p>\n
The Ravens were led by Grade 10 golfer Emma Kral, who finished third in the girls individual competition with a 5-over-par total of 150.<\/p>\n
Oak Bay finished 11th with a total of 630.<\/p>\n
The Barbarians were tied for fourth after opening with a first-round score of 306, but dropped down the leaderboard after posting a 324 on the tournament\u2019s second day. <\/p>\n
Oak Bay\u2019s Luke Bernakavitch, also in Grade 10, delivered the top individual performance among male Greater Victoria golfers, finishing third in the boys competition with rounds of 72 and 71 for a two-day total of 143.<\/p>\n
