(Submitted by Winnipeg Police Service)<\/p>\n<p>A man has been charged with arson after he allegedly set fire to the downtown Dollarama store.<\/p>\n<p>A man went into the store on Portage Avenue and set fire to some merchandise shortly before 7 p.m. on May 5, the Winnipeg Police Service said in a news release Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The fire spread quickly and caused substantial damage before security staff extinguished it, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Police arrested a 33-year-old man, who was already in custody for another matter, at the Winnipeg Remand Centre on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>He is charged with arson causing damage to property and two counts of failure to comply with probation.
