\n\tThe anticipated sequel to the 1997 cult classic comedy Romy and Michele\u2019s High School Reunion is officially in production. Original stars Lisa Kudrow<\/a> and Mira Sorvino<\/a> are attached to the 20th Century Studios project, which will stream exclusively as a Hulu Original.<\/p>\n

\n\tBoth Kudrow and Sorvino took to social media to share a photo of themselves on set, sporting the quirky costumes that defined their characters. They announced, \u201cThe reunion you\u2019ve been waiting for! The Romy and Michele sequel is now in production.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIt has been nearly three decades since Romy (Sorvino) and Michele (Kudrow) returned to Tucson for their 10-year high school reunion. In the original film, the Los Angeles-based duo attempted to impress their former classmates by claiming they were successful businesswomen who invented Post-its \u2014 only for their elaborate plan to hilariously fall apart.<\/p>\n

\n\tAlan Cumming (Sandy Frink), Janeane Garofalo (Heather), Camryn Manheim (Toby) and Julia Campbell (Christie Masters) are confirmed to reprise their roles alongside the duo. The ensemble cast will also include Keegan-Michael Key,\u00a0Rob Huebel,\u00a0Breckin Meyer,\u00a0Patrick Warburton and\u00a0Nathan Lee Graham\u00a0in roles that are being kept under wraps.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tMona May<\/a>, the iconic costume designer behind the original wardrobe, is returning to style the production. \u201cI\u2019m so excited to be a part of this amazing project to keep the DNA of the characters and design the fashions to be as fun and fabulous as the original film,\u201d May shared. \u201cRomy and Michele are forever fashionistas, and I\u2019m so excited to be working with Lisa and Mira again.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 20th Century Studios film is directed and produced by\u00a0Tim Federle\u00a0and written by\u00a0Robin Schiff, who created the characters and penned the original 1997 film. Also producing is\u00a0Laurence Mark, who produced the original. Executive producers are\u00a0Barry Kemp, who was also executive producer on\u00a0Romy and Michele\u2019s High School Reunion, Sorvino, Kudrow and Schiff.\u00a0Kimberly McCullough\u00a0serves as co-producer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe creative team includes director of photography\u00a0Marco Fargnoli, production designer\u00a0Hillary Gurtler and editor\u00a0Brian Olds. Sarah Shepard\u00a0is overseeing the project for 20th Century Studios.
