{"id":724753,"date":"2026-06-09T08:02:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-09T08:02:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/724753\/"},"modified":"2026-06-09T08:02:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-09T08:02:11","slug":"athletics-brewers-combine-for-29-runs-in-vegas-showcase-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/724753\/","title":{"rendered":"Athletics, Brewers combine for 29 runs in Vegas showcase game"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/baseball\/mlb\/teams\/oakland-athletics\/\" class=\"sn-team-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-team=\"oakland-athletics\" data-league=\"mlb\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Athletics<\/a> introduced themselves to their new home in one of the most epic games in baseball this season.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately for fans in Las Vegas, the home team came out on the losing end.<\/p>\n<p>The A&#8217;s lost 15-14 in a 12-inning instant classic to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/baseball\/mlb\/teams\/milwaukee-brewers\/\" class=\"sn-team-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-team=\"milwaukee-brewers\" data-league=\"mlb\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Milwaukee Brewers<\/a> on Monday at Las Vegas Ballpark, home of the triple-A Las Vegas Aviators.<\/p>\n<p>The 29 combined runs were the most in an MLB game this season, as were the 11 home runs.<\/p>\n<p>The A&#8217;s led 8-3 after three innings and 10-7 after 7 but the Brewers forced extras with a run in the eighth and two more in the ninth. In the 10th inning, Milwaukee scored four times \u2014 including a three-run homer from William Contreras \u2014 and appeared to be in control but back-to-back home runs from Nick Kurtz and a pinch-hitting Jonah Heim tied the game at 14.<\/p>\n<p>The Brewers ultimately scratched another run across in the 12th inning and held on for the win.<\/p>\n<p>The game was the first of six games for the A&#8217;s this week in Vegas, three against the Brewers, followed by three against the Rockies.
