A tornado was reported southwest of St. Pierre\u00a0Tuesday\u00a0afternoon as a supercell thunderstorm moves northeast through southeastern Manitoba.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Scott Kehler with\u00a0Weatherlogics,\u00a0who is\u00a0travelling along Highway 59 near St. Pierre, confirmed\u00a0a tornado sighting.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re watching a supercell thunderstorm which just produced a tornado southwest of St. Pierre,\u201d says Kehler.\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to Kehler, the storm is tracking northeast and was expected to\u00a0impact\u00a0areas near Niverville.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He adds that while the worst of the storm is expected to miss Steinbach, the city could still see some impacts.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cSteinbach may get a piece of it as well.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Residents in communities along the storm path are urged to take precautions as conditions\u00a0remained\u00a0dangerous.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople in the area should take shelter\u00a0immediately\u00a0if they are in the path of the storm,\u201d he says.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The storm system is moving through southeastern Manitoba amid ongoing severe weather concerns, with residents encouraged to\u00a0monitor\u00a0warnings and weather alerts as conditions\u00a0change.\u00a0<\/p>\n
