As of Tuesday afternoon,\u00a0organizers\u00a0had\u00a0secured\u00a024 sponsors and raised more than $46,000 through sponsorships alone.\u00a0Additional\u00a0funds were expected from golfer registrations, a silent auction and raffle draw.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Bechard said all proceeds from the event will go directly towards scholarships and bursaries to help make post-secondary education more affordable for students.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt just feels great to know that\u00a0we’re\u00a0making a difference and that\u00a0we have that community support, that Providence community,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Among the participants was Grant Dredger, who estimated he\u00a0has\u00a0taken part in the tournament four or five times.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThey always do\u00a0a good job\u00a0on it but mostly\u00a0it’s\u00a0wanting\u00a0to support Providence. I think\u00a0it’s\u00a0a\u00a0really good\u00a0organization, good institution, and it deserves support,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The annual\u00a0tournament\u00a0has become a\u00a0long-standing\u00a0tradition for Providence, combining fundraising\u00a0with fellowship\u00a0and investing\u00a0in the next generation of students.\u00a0<\/p>\n
