Tim Tszyu’s<\/a> conqueror and WBC super welterweight champion Sebastian Fundora will put his title on the line against Keith Thurman in October, according to ESPN.<\/p>\n

Tszyu spoke of taking on Thurman later this year as he plotted a pathway beyond Fundora in July, at that point assuming that he would take care of business. But the Aussie didn’t leave his stool at the end of the seventh round<\/a> and Fundora retained his belt.<\/p>\n

Tszyu has been active on social media in recent weeks but there’s been no official word on when he will get back in the ring or what his next steps will be.<\/p>\n

The former WBO champion has been urged to take a step back from fighting elite competition, with the general consensus being he should take on a local fighter next.<\/p>\n

The Sydneysider apologised to his fans a few days after the loss, saying he “crashed and burned” but will be back again.<\/p>\n

Some weeks later, he posted a photo of himself walking to the ring against Fundora, with his uncle and trainer not far behind him, with the caption: “The man in the arena.”<\/p>\n

That attracted some criticism from a section of fans, who questioned why the boxer was bringing more attention to his humiliating loss to Fundora.<\/p>\n

Another common theme among Tszyu’s posts was the consistent messaging from fans urging him to bring in a new trainer, preferably in the United States.<\/p>\n

Tszyu seems to be in better spirits lately, posting a video of himself running a half marathon in the rain last week.<\/p>\n

Tszyu’s brother Nikita defended him in media interviews this week, saying those who called for him to quit are “ignorant”.<\/p>\n

With boxing and the pay-per-view model, it’s difficult to get your fans to part with their money consistently when there’s no winning involved.<\/p>\n

Tszyu had big plans for this year prior to the loss to Fundora but his future remains uncertain.<\/p>\n

As for Fundora, he suffered no damage against Tszyu and has already booked his next title defence less than a month after the win.<\/p>\n

The fight against Thurman is slated to take place in Las Vegas as a PBC on Prime PPV headliner, reportedly in late October.<\/p>\n

Thurman was supposed to fight Tszyu before injury saw the Australian take on Fundora the first time in 2024.<\/p>\n

Thurman (31-1, 23 KOs), 36, has struggled to stay healthy and has fought only twice since dropping a decision to Pacquiao in 2019.<\/p>\n
