Kent Hughes is looking for an impact forward for his top six, and several options have recently come off the board.<\/p>\n
On the other side, Robertson could become available in Dallas due to his significant contract demands.<\/p>\n
That is what is driving people to explore alternative avenues.<\/p>\n
According to reports making the rounds, contract negotiations between Robertson and the Stars have reportedly stalled.<\/p>\n
The hypothetical scenario is built around that premise.<\/p>\n
In this proposal, Robertson would then sign a seven-year contract worth $12.5 million per season with the Canadiens.<\/p>\n
The return would be steep for Montreal.<\/p>\n
The scenario would send Michael Hage and David Reinbacher to the Stars.<\/p>\n
They are two of the organization’s most promising prospects.<\/p>\n
Hage, a first-round pick in 2024, recorded 52 points in 39 NCAA games last season.<\/p>\n
Reinbacher, meanwhile, was selected fifth overall in 2023 and posted 24 points in 57 American Hockey League games.<\/p>\n
Giving up two former first-round picks is a hefty price to pay, but let’s not forget that Robertson is a 45-goal scorer who put up 109 points in 2023.<\/p>\n
