\n\tHelen Mirren<\/a> is busy.<\/p>\n

\n\tOver the past year, she has starred in TV series like 1923 and MobLand<\/a>, filmed movies such as Switzerland and Goodbye June, and is now promoting her most recent project, The Thursday Murder Club<\/a>. Mirren, 80, caught up with The Hollywood Reporter Thursday night (no pun intended) and shared what it\u2019s like to balance it all.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSometimes it\u2019s a bit of a car crash of projects, and they sort of pile up,\u201d the Oscar winner told THR. \u201cAnd you have very little time in between, which actually is a good thing. You get into a work mode, and you just live in that work mode for maybe five months, six months. So it\u2019s been great, actually \u2014 all very interesting, very different projects.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDirected by Chris Columbus, The Thursday Murder Club is based on Richard Osman\u2019s bestselling novel. It follows four retirees \u2014 Elizabeth (Mirren), Ron (Pierce Brosnan<\/a>), Ibrahim (Ben Kingsley) and Joyce (Celia Imrie) \u2014 solving murders as a hobby, but things change when they find themselves in the middle of a real whodunnit mystery.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile Mirren and Brosnan don\u2019t play husband and wife in this film, they do in the hit Paramount show<\/a> MobLand. And this film marks their third time working together as they first starred in the 1980 gangster film, The Long Good Friday. For Brosnan, this film was a chance to reunite with his \u201cold friend\u201d Columbus whom he worked with on Mrs. Doubtfire, he told THR. <\/p>\n

\n\tBrosnan credits his \u201cadmiration\u201d of the acclaimed actress to what makes them such a power duo onscreen. \u201cShe\u2019s beautiful; she\u2019s human; she\u2019s real; she\u2019s sexy; she\u2019s fun; she\u2019s fragile; she\u2019s everything that you would want in a woman and fellow actor,\u201d Brosnan told THR. \u201cWe get on together; we just kind of hit the ground running.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Queen star admits the respect is mutual. \u201cI\u2019m so, so fond of Pierce. He\u2019s such a great guy. And that was a lovely surprise that someone with the incredible career that Pierce has had, the incredible success he\u2019s had,\u201d she said. \u201cWe just work in the same way, the two of us, we get on with it. We don\u2019t make a fuss. And I just adored working with him. So I\u2019ve been very lucky in the last year. First of all, I had Harrison Ford, who was fantastic, and then Pierce Brosnan. I\u2019ve been a very lucky actress.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe next time Mirren and Brosnan are set to appear together is in <\/a>MobLand <\/a>season two<\/a>, which also stars Tom Hardy<\/a>. Mirren told THR she hasn\u2019t read any scripts yet, and they haven\u2019t started filming, but she thinks \u201cwe probably will start at the end of October.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSo, it looks like there\u2019s no slowing down, as the actress admits she doesn\u2019t have plans to retire anytime soon. \u201cI mean, sure, I love to not work. Don\u2019t get me wrong; I love not working, and especially now more than earlier, I feel I\u2019ve earned it; I deserve it,\u201d she said with a laugh. \u201cBut no, I mean, if there\u2019s a project that I want to do, and if I have the mental and physical capability to do it, I\u2019ll do it.\u201d She says what\u2019s left on her bucket list is to do a \u201cvery radical, interesting piece of theater.\u201d<\/p>\n
