A Boca Raton psychiatrist demonstrated an improper fixation with the breasts of a female patient diagnosed with anxiety, ADHD and borderline personality disorder, a state complaint says.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s from the most recent Florida Department of Health administrative complaint<\/a> that posted to the online discipline page of Dr. Andrew Sorial on Tuesday, the third from May 22 and fifth overall.<\/p>\n Each complaint alleges Sorial went past patient-doctor boundaries during telehealth appointments by conjured reasons for women to wear revealing clothes, reveal their breasts or, in this most recently posted complaint, discuss the patient\u2019s breasts.<\/p>\n READ MORE: More women say a South Florida psychiatrist asked them to remove clothes<\/a><\/p>\n One woman has filed a civil lawsuit in Palm Beach County against Sorial and then-employer Boca Raton Psychiatry. Sorial\u2019s license has been suspended in Florida since Jan. 21, five days before the first complaint was filed. He ended his time at Boca Raton Psychiatry in February, according to his LinkedIn page, the same month he entered into a voluntary agreement not to practice in Massachusetts, where he\u2019s also licensed. The May complaints say Sorial\u2019s address of record is now his home in Norfolk, Massachusetts.<\/p>\n Neither Sorial nor Boca Raton Psychiatry have responded to requests from the Miami Herald for comments on the latest complaint.<\/p>\n READ MORE: A South Florida psychiatrist asked two patients to take off clothes, state says<\/a><\/p>\n Sorial \u2018asked if she was happy with her breasts\u2019<\/p>\n Patient 5 saw Sorial, the complaint said, for \u201cmedication management\u2019 after being diagnosed with anxiety, attention deficit\/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and borderline personality disorder. From August to November 2024, these psychiatric appointments were one hour and conducted by video conferencing.<\/p>\n During a session, the complaint said, Sorial \u201cbrought up fluctuations in Patient 5\u2019s weight.\u201d He also asked if she was \u201csatisfied with her body image\u201d and \u201cto identity any areas of dissatisfaction.\u201d<\/p>\n Among the questions and statements Sorial then made, according to the complaint:<\/p>\n \u201cAsked Patient 5 if she was happy with her breasts.\u201d\u201cAsked Patient 5 her bra size and whether her breast size and changed due to weight loss.\u201d\u201cTold Patient 5 that they should monitor the size and shape of her breasts.\u201d<\/p>\n Those questions and comments were, the complaint said, \u201coutside the scope of practice and generally accepted medical examination or treatment of the patient.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
