\n\tJonah Hill<\/a> and Channing Tatum<\/a> are back on the beat with 24 Jump Street.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe latest sequel in the comedy film franchise is in the works at Sony Pictures<\/a>, with Hill, Tatum and Ice Cube<\/a> in talks to return, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. <\/p>\n

\n\tRodney Rothman will direct the movie from a script he wrote with Hill and Meghan Malloy. Phil Lord<\/a> and Chris Miller<\/a>, who helmed 2012\u2019s 21 Jump Street<\/a> and 2014 sequel 22 Jump Street<\/a>, will return as producers alongside Neal H. Moritz<\/a>. Also producing are Hill and Strong Baby Productions partner Matt Dines, along with Tatum and Free Association partner Reid Carolin. <\/p>\n

\n\tNo plot details have been shared, and it is unclear why the number 23 was skipped over for the current film\u2019s title. Rothman is credited for working on the script for 22 Jump Street, along with Michael Bacall and Oren Uziel. <\/p>\n

\n\tLord and Miller, who helmed this year\u2019s Ryan Gosling-led Amazon MGM Studios hit Project Hail Mary, marked their live-action feature directorial debuts with 21 Jump Street, which had a script from Hill and Bacall. It centered on police officers Schmidt (Hill) and Jenko (Tatum) going undercover as high school students in an attempt to infiltrate a drug ring. Ice Cube played the gruff Captain Dickinson, who oversaw the program.<\/p>\n

\n\t21 Jump Street surpassed $200 million at the global box office. 22 Jump Street, which saw the pair disguising themselves as college students, was an even bigger hit, collecting $331 million worldwide. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe films are based on the 21 Jump Street series that premiered on Fox in 1987 and ran for five seasons. Johnny Depp, who had a cameo in the first movie, starred in the show that counted Patrick Hasburgh and Stephen J. Cannell as co-creators.<\/p>\n

\n\tOver the years, there had been talked of a third 21 Jump Street movie, including the possibility of a crossover between the Men in Black and Jump Street franchises, until the project was finally said to be dead.<\/p>\n

\n\tBack in 2024, Tatum noted that a script for a third movie<\/a> in the 21 Jump Street series had been written a while back, with the actor singing its praises. \u201cYou know what, I\u2019m going to put some good juju out there, and I\u2019m going to say I would love to see\u00a023 Jump Street,\u201d Tatum said at the time. \u201cI would love to do it with Jonah, and Jonah I know wants to do it. We would love to just get to go play again.\u201d <\/p>\n
