It’s pandemonium in New York.<\/p>\n

The San Antonio Spurs<\/a> opened a big lead early Wednesday and silenced a Madison Square Garden crowd for a second straight game in Game 4 of the NBA Finals.<\/p>\n

But a 29-point second-half advantage wasn’t big enough. The New York Knicks<\/a> rallied for a 107-106 win to mount the largest comeback in NBA Finals history.<\/a><\/p>\n

OG Anunoby<\/a>‘s putback of a missed Jalen Brunson<\/a> 3 secured the win for the Knicks to cap a wild second half rally that made history in New York.<\/p>\n

San Antonio<\/a> led 81-52 in the third quarter and held a 95-75 advantage with 9:33 remaining in the fourth. But a once scorching-hot Spurs team went cold down the stretch as the Knicks caught fire. And a Knicks team that’s mounted massive rallies in these playoffs already made NBA history to seize a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals.<\/p>\n

New York is now one win away from securing its first NBA championship since 1973. To avoid that fate, the Spurs will have to win three straight, starting with Game 5 back home in San Antonio.<\/p>\n

Anunoby and Brunson paced the rally for the Knicks. Brunson bounced back from missing all four of his field goal attempts in the first quarter to lead all scorers with 36 points, 7 assists and 3 steals.<\/p>\n

Anunoby was the steadying force for New York from the first quarter through his game-winning bucket, knifing through three would-be Spurs rebounders at the rim. He shot 10 of 15 from the field and 7 of 9 from 3 en route to 33 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block.<\/p>\n

And the Spurs who looked well on their way to taking the series back to San Antonio with a chance to take the series lead at home in Game 5, couldn\u2019t find the bottom of the net after halftime.<\/p>\n

The Spurs seized early control and took a 44-22 lead into the second quarter. By halftime, they\u2019d set the NBA Finals record for threes in a half with 14 makes from long distance. They held a 76-49 lead at the break, and MSG was bracing itself for a second straight Knicks loss in two games at home.<\/p>\n

But the Spurs managed just 14 points in the third quarter. They mustered 16 points in the fourth. They only needed 32 second-half points to win the game, but they fell excruciatingly short of that tally.<\/p>\n

While San Antonio went cold, the Knicks mounted a 13-0 third quarter run that opened up hope at MSG that a Knicks team that had delivered previous miracles in these plays could pull off one more. A Josh Hart<\/a> 3 with Victor Wembanyama<\/a> on the bench capped that run to cut the deficit to 81-65 and bring the home fans to their feet.<\/p>\n

But Wembanyama quickly returned, and the Spurs evenually rebuilt their advantage to 95-75 early in the fourth. The rally appeared to be held at bay.<\/p>\n

But the Spurs went cold again, the Knicks responded with an 8-0 run. They eventually whittled the lead down to 104-103 in the final two minutes, and a Jalen Brunson floater in traffic game them their first lead of the game with 1:22 remaining.<\/p>\n

A pair of Stephon Castle<\/a> free throws gave the Spurs the lead again. And De\u2019Aaron Fox<\/a> had a chance to run out the clock or force a foul after grabbing a reboud off a Knicks miss with less than 15 seconds remaining.<\/p>\n

But he opted to attempt a layup in transition that Anunoby blocked.<\/p>\n

The Knicks secured the rebound and eventually called timeout to set up the fateful final Knicks possession and Anunoby\u2019s game-winner.<\/p>\n

San Antonio had one last chance to take the lead with 1.2 seconds remaining. But Castle struggle to control the inbounds pass in the frontcourt from Dylan Harper<\/a>, and the Spurs didn\u2019t get off a final shot.<\/p>\n
