Montreal police say they\u2019ve broken up an alleged Hells Angels-linked network that generated roughly $1.73 million by stealing vehicles in New Brunswick, disguising them in Quebec and reselling them through legal and illegal channels.<\/p>\n
Seven people were arrested Wednesday as part of a multi-agency operation led by the Montreal police service. Police say one of the suspects is a member of the Hells Angels and another is linked to the Jesters Northside support club.<\/p>\n
According to investigators, the network altered or replaced vehicle identification numbers and created fraudulent documents that allowed stolen vehicles to be registered and sold. Some were allegedly reintroduced into the legal market through auctions, while others were sold directly to individuals.<\/p>\n
Police identified 25 stolen vehicles during this investigation, including 21 recovered in Quebec, Ontario and the United States. Investigators also seized roughly $100,000 in cash and two devices supposedly used to manufacture fraudulent vehicle identification numbers.<\/p>\n
