The New York Mets<\/a> have many problems, but among them, young star Mark Vientos<\/a> has been at the top of that list.<\/p>\n

Vientos, who proved a few years ago that he can be a very good player in Major League Baseball, just hasn’t figured things out at the highest level. It’s very unfortunate that he’s played at the level he has over the past few years, but it doesn’t seem like it’s going to get better at any time in the near future.<\/p>\n

Right now, the better outcome for the Mets would probably be trading him, as there really isn’t any other outcome that would make a lot of sense.<\/p>\n

Some even believe that he should be traded before the deadline, with one writer suggesting that the Mets should look to move on from him before the trade deadline at the beginning of August and move him around July 1.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy trade him before July 1? It\u2019s kind of a similar situation to what the Mets had in 2023 when they went on a trade deadline firesale. Eduardo Escobar<\/a> was dealt on June 24 to the Los Angeles Angels<\/a>. The Mets, with Jared Young<\/a> playing well and Jorge Polanco<\/a> as a first base option already have two guys who can quickly replace Vientos. Add in prospect Ryan Clifford and even moving Brett Baty<\/a> over to first base for some chances, there are more than enough players who can have the Mets shopping Vientos early,\u201d Tim Boyle wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The idea of moving on from Vientos right now makes a lot of sense, though the Mets certainly aren’t going to get the same type of offer they were probably hoping for a few years ago.<\/p>\n

Vientos had a chance to be traded for a very good player in the past, but that ship has completely sailed.<\/p>\n
