Robert Carradine checked himself into a psychiatric hospital weeks before his tragic death<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The \u201cLizzie McGuire\u201d star entered the Los Angeles facility prior to his passing and an employee found him unresponsive and in cardiac arrest one day later, per the LA County Medical Examiner\u2019s report, obtained by TMZ<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Attempts were made to resuscitate him, but he ultimately died weeks later.<\/p>\n

Just one day after entering the Los Angeles facility, an employee found Carradine (seen above in 2014) unresponsive and in cardiac arrest one day later, per the LA County Medical Examiner\u2019s report. AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n

The report also revealed that following the beloved actor\u2019s passing, his daughter told investigators her father had struggled with mental illness for about 20 years and had been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder.\u00a0<\/p>\n

At the time of his death, Carradine was experiencing ongoing suicidal ideation, suffered from severe depression and anxiety and was taking multiple medications, according to the M.E.\u2019s report.<\/p>\n

As Page Six previously reported, the \u201cRevenge of the Nerds\u201d star took his own life in February after\u00a0struggling with his mental health<\/a> for two decades. He was 71.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with profound sadness that we must share that our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and brother\u00a0Robert Carradine<\/a>\u00a0has passed away,\u201d his family said in a statement to Deadline on Feb. 23.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn a world that can feel so dark, Bobby was always a beacon of light to everyone around him. We are bereft at the loss of this beautiful soul and want to acknowledge Bobby\u2019s valiant struggle against his nearly two-decade battle with Bipolar Disorder.\u201d<\/p>\n

Also in the family\u2019s statement, Robert\u2019s younger brother, actor Keith Carradine, explained the family shared the sad news because they wanted to bring awareness to mental health.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want people to know it, and there is no shame in it,\u201d Keith expressed. \u201cIt is an illness that got the best of him, and I want to celebrate him for his struggle with it, and celebrate his beautiful soul. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe was profoundly gifted, and we will miss him every day. We will take solace in how funny he could be, how wise and utterly accepting and tolerant he was. That\u2019s who my baby brother was.\u201d<\/p>\n

Robert had a daughter,\u00a0actress Ever Carradine<\/a>, with actress Susan Snyder in 1974. He later married Edith Mani and had two more children, Marika and Ian, before the couple divorced after 25 years together.<\/p>\n

The actor was cremated and his ashes were scattered at sea<\/a>, according to his death certificate. <\/p>\n
