Explore Edmonton plans to eventually expand the trolley system.

The bus-like units, complete with driver guides, have that historic feel on the inside too, with wooden benches outfitted with leather cushioning and open-air windows.

Nine participating attractions have partnered with the trolley service, including the Edmonton Riverboat, Fort Edmonton Park, and the Muttart Conservatory, where the trolley reveal took place.

The trolley tours are part of Discover Edmonton’s pass system that allows people to get into multiple attractions at a cheaper rate. Each trolley ride will take you to any of the partnered sites, with some rides running as long as 45 minutes.

Gary Poliquin with Explore Edmonton launches the Edmonton Explorer trolley service on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, an immersive initiative designed to make exploring Edmonton a more connected and convenient experience.

The move aligns with Explore Edmonton’s continued push to make the city a more desired destination for tourists. Edmonton Ward Sspomitapi Coun. Joanne Wright said Edmonton is a growing destination city.

“Our river valley, vibrant arts and culture scene, welcoming communities, and unique attractions all help to make this a city worth exploring,” said Wright, one of a handful of city councillors at the Wednesday launch.

While the trolley has multiple routes, Wednesday’s attendees toured the river valley and Jasper Avenue. The other route will take people as far as the Alberta Aviation Museum on Kingsway.

The trolley tours officially open June 15, alongside the Discover Edmonton pass. A day pass is $39, redeemable at two locations of your choosing.

Related

Bookmark our website and support our journalism: Don’t miss the news you need to know — add EdmontonJournal.com and EdmontonSun.com to your bookmarks and sign up for our newsletters here.

You can also support our journalism by becoming a digital subscriber.
