The project will create more licensed childcare spaces and help keep fees affordable for families.<\/p>\n<p>Key points of the motion:<\/p>\n<p>The school will expand from 16 part-time spaces to 47 full-day licensed spaces.<br \/>\nNew classrooms will serve children aged 18 months to five years.<br \/>\nThe City will provide $11,348.84 from the Tax Capital Reserve Fund to cover development charges.<br \/>\nThe school is part of the Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care system.<br \/>\nThe expansion will add more childcare options in the Applewood area.<\/p>\n<p>Read the <a href=\"https:\/\/pub-mississauga.escribemeetings.com\/filestream.ashx?DocumentId=86714\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">motion<\/a>.<br \/>Watch the <a href=\"https:\/\/pub-mississauga.escribemeetings.com\/Meeting.aspx?Id=6b81e240-216a-4f63-bc3e-3d1323536f24&amp;lang=English&amp;Agenda=Merged&amp;Item=44&amp;Tab=attachments\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">discussion<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Street name change advances for Morguard Boulevard<\/p>\n<p>Council approved a motion to rename Yeadon Place to Morguard Boulevard. The street serves a new residential development near Cawthra Road and Atwater Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Key points of the motion:<\/p>\n<p>The development includes three rental apartment buildings with 431 units.<br \/>\nThe name change can happen before residents move in, reducing impacts on services such as emergency services and mail delivery.<br \/>\nThe proposed name will be posted for a 30-day public comment period.<br \/>\nThe Heritage Advisory Committee will review the change before it is finalized.<br \/>\nThis is being treated as a one-time exception while the City reviews its naming policy.<\/p>\n<p>Read the <a href=\"https:\/\/pub-mississauga.escribemeetings.com\/filestream.ashx?DocumentId=86715\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">motion<\/a>.<br \/>Watch the <a href=\"https:\/\/pub-mississauga.escribemeetings.com\/Meeting.aspx?Id=6b81e240-216a-4f63-bc3e-3d1323536f24&amp;lang=English&amp;Agenda=Merged&amp;Item=45&amp;Tab=attachments\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">discussion<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Live music rules become a permanent feature in cultural districts<\/p>\n<p>Council approved updates to the City\u2019s noise by-law to allow live music in designated cultural districts on an ongoing basis. These changes replace the previous pilot program.<\/p>\n<p>Key points of the by-law:<\/p>\n<p>Applies to Clarkson, Cooksville, Downtown Core, Lakeview, Malton, Port Credit and Streetsville cultural districts.<br \/>\nIndoor live music is permitted at licensed business locations during set times, with noise limits.<br \/>\nOutdoor live music is permitted on approved patios and in City parks or public spaces during set hours.<br \/>\nThe updated rules take effect at 12:01 a.m. on June 29, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Read the <a meeting or the <a href=\"https:\/\/pub-mississauga.escribemeetings.com\/Players\/ISIStandAlonePlayer.aspx?Id=cded3bb6-1959-4a49-8f50-7cb40b50cbc4\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Special Council<\/a> meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Development charge incentives extended to support housing<\/p>\n<p>At a Special Council meeting, Council approved a motion to extend the City\u2019s residential development charge incentive program to support more housing construction.<\/p>\n<p>Key points of the motion:<\/p>\n<p>The program will now run until March 30, 2029.<br \/>\nIt applies to eligible developments with permits issued before that date.<br \/>\nMore than 20,000 housing units could be supported through the program.<br \/>\nThe City expects it will help advance more than 3,600 rental noopener\" target=\"_blank\">discussion<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>New penalties introduced to improve safety on industrial roads<\/p>\n<p>Council endorsed new penalties to address safety concerns on industrial streets, including issues related to parking and recreational vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Key points of the report:<\/p>\n<p>Bren Road has been added to the industrial penalty schedule due to ongoing parking concerns.<br \/>\nStandard parking violations on these roads will carry a $300 penalty.<br \/>\nHeavy vehicle violations will carry a $500 penalty.<br \/>\nParking a recreational vehicle on a highway will carry a $175 penalty.<br \/>\nThe changes respond to issues such as blocked sightlines and reduced road access.<\/p>\n<p>Read the <a noopener\" target=\"_blank\">discussion<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Traffic calming program approved for 2026<\/p>\n<p>Council endorsed the 2026 Traffic Calming Program to help reduce speeding and improve safety on local streets.<\/p>\n<p>Key points of the report:<\/p>\n<p>Projects will take place in Wards 1, 4, 5, 8 and 10.<br \/>\nStreets include Haig Boulevard, Melton Drive, Pinewood Trail, Port Street East, Kingsbridge Garden Circle, Guildwood Way, Heritage Hills Boulevard, Loyalist Drive and Churchill Meadows Boulevard.<br \/>\nLocations were selected based on speed data, resident feedback, and public feedback through surveys.<br \/>\nEmergency services and MiWay have reviewed the plans and raised no concerns.<br \/>\nFunding will come from the City\u2019s traffic calming budget, ward noopener\" target=\"_blank\">discussion<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Updated boulevard garden rules support safer, simpler landscaping<\/p>\n<p>Council endorsed updates to boulevard garden and encroachment rules to make it easier for residents to landscape City boulevards while maintaining safety.<\/p>\n<p>Key points of the report:<\/p>\n<p>Permits are no longer required for boulevard gardens.<br \/>\nResidents must still follow safety, setback, and maintenance requirements.<br \/>\nDecorative landscaping features near City trees are now allowed in more cases.<br \/>\nThe City can issue orders and complete work at a property owner\u2019s expense if rules are not followed.<br \/>\nPenalties range from $500 up to $100,000 for serious violations.<\/p>\n<p>Read the <a
