{"id":732253,"date":"2026-06-12T15:51:10","date_gmt":"2026-06-12T15:51:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/732253\/"},"modified":"2026-06-12T15:51:10","modified_gmt":"2026-06-12T15:51:10","slug":"liv-golf-agent-lifts-lid-on-jon-rahms-messy-contract-situation-its-a-total-clusterf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/732253\/","title":{"rendered":"LIV Golf agent lifts lid on Jon Rahm&#8217;s messy contract situation: &#8220;It&#8217;s a total clusterf&#8212;!&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jon Rahm may be able to get out of his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmagic.com\/tour\/liv-golf\" data-entity-type=\"taxonomy_term\" data-entity-uuid=\"a98bdd27-b225-4fc9-b7d2-bbff98678a53\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"LIV Golf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">LIV Golf<\/a> contract at the end of 2026 but it will not be easy, according to an agent who works for a player on the breakaway tour. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmagic.com\/players\/jon-rahm\" data-entity-type=\"taxonomy_term\" data-entity-uuid=\"c782252c-246d-46d2-9cef-a1b05de0c85b\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Jon Rahm\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rahm<\/a> joined the PIF-backed league in December 2023 and it&#8217;s understood the reported $300m (\u00a3222m) deal he penned will see the Spanish two-time major champion through to the end of the 2029.<\/p>\n<p>But his future has come into sharp focus in recent months after it was confirmed Saudi Arabia will no longer finance LIV Golf after the conclusion of the 2026 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/rahmphone1.JPG\"   type=\"image\/jpeg\" alt=\"Jon Rahm joined LIV Golf in December 2023\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.59\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>Jon Rahm joined LIV Golf in December 2023<\/p>\n<p>Recent reporting from the Financial Times indicates that, despite a recent cash injection from the PIF earlier this month, senior LIV executives remain uncertain whether the additional funding needed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmagic.com\/tour\/liv-golf\/report-liv-golfs-remaining-events-doubt-amid-funding-shortfall\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"39fe25ef-862f-4aed-8316-d497afe43547\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Report: LIV Golf\u2019s remaining events in doubt amid funding shortfall\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">stage their remaining U.S. events will arrive<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Every remaining tournament is on \u200bthe fence,&#8221; the executive told the publication.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In that scenario, Rahm and other golfers tied down to multimillion dollar deals may try and exit stage left, arguing their contracts are void.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But that process, according to Skratch&#8217;s Alan Shipnuck, will not be easy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skratch.golf\/news\/pro-golf\/jon-rahm-future-liv-pga-tour-contract-details-bankruptcy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">recent report<\/a> quotes two LIV agents, speaking on the condition of anonymity, with one describing Rahm&#8217;s situation as a &#8220;total clusterf&#8212;&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The contract we signed calls for 14 tournaments with purses of at least $25m,&#8221; the agent said. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If they put together a smaller schedule for less money, which is obviously the only path forward, the contract we signed is voided.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At least, that\u2019s how we see it. What are the enforcement mechanisms?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Would the players be able to play while this is getting decided or would they be put in some kind of enforced limbo?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The whole thing is a mess.
