Somehow, the cinematic Mark Zuckerberg has returned, but this time, he doesn\u2019t look like Jesse Eisenberg. In a new feature in Vanity Fair<\/a> discussing The Social Reckoning<\/a>, the follow-up to 2010\u2019s The Social Network, Aaron Sorkin explains that he really tried to get Eisenberg back in the saddle. Sorkin both writes and directs the sequel, and says of the Zuckerberg role, \u201cI felt like it belonged to [Eisenberg], and he was certainly battle-tested.\u201d Maybe he was a little too battle-tested. Sorkin spent three days trying to convince Eisenberg to step back under Zuckerberg\u2019s microbangs to no avail. \u201cHe simply did not want to be conflated with Mark Zuckerberg anymore, that he has his problems with the guy,\u201d says Sorkin. \u201cHe doesn\u2019t like kids coming up to him in airports with business cards that say \u2018I\u2019m CEO, bitch\u2019 for him to sign.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jeremy Strong, who steps into the role for Reckoning, clearly did not share the same concern. One of the events at which Sorkin tried to court Eisenberg was the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, where Strong also happened to be. It was there that Strong apparently told Sorkin that if Eisenberg didn\u2019t want the part, he\u2019d be happy to take it. \u201cHe showed up on his first day, and when he said \u2018good morning\u2019 to me, he was already talking like Mark,\u201d says Sorkin. Yeah, that sounds about right<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
