The Edmonton Oilers are reportedly looking to hire Mike Babcock to be their next head coach.<\/p>\n

This move is raising some eyebrows.<\/p>\n

For anyone that doesn’t know the history, Babcock last coached when he was with the Blue Jackets.<\/p>\n

He was forced to resign there amid allegations that he violated player privacy by demanding to see personal photos on players’ cell phones during one-on-one meetings.<\/p>\n

That’s one of many allegations of essentially wrongdoing between coach and player.<\/p>\n

In fact, the NHL has had to reach out to the NHLPA to make sure the Players Association would even be okay with the hire.<\/p>\n

The NHLPA is requesting a full investigation before the Oilers can even hire him.<\/p>\n

Caroline, I just, I’m stunned that a team right now that is trying to convince the world that they’ve got the necessary pieces to keep their superstars happy and in place are, are trying to make what would become one of the more controversial recent hires in NHL m- memory.<\/p>\n

It’s Stanley Cup or bust in Edmonton.<\/p>\n

I mean, Connor McDavid signed a two-year deal because he didn’t want to sign a longer one.<\/p>\n

He said, “I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt.<\/p>\n

I’ll stick around in the short term, but if you can’t prove to me that we can actually win here in that short amount of time, I’m out of here.”<\/p>\n

And good for him.<\/p>\n

So y- your days are numbered in Edmonton.<\/p>\n

Your, your days with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl at their peaks playing with the best duo in the NHL, they’re numbered, and not winning a championship on capitalizing on the best one-two punch in the NHL is an absolute epic failure.<\/p>\n

So this coaching search and this coaching selection is one of the most critical decisions that I think has ever faced the Edmonton Oilers organization.<\/p>\n

And you’re gonna f- hire someone, or at least entertain the idea of hiring someone with that kind of baggage?<\/p>\n

Like, you can’t tell me that we don’t have enough good, quality, and deserving hockey coaches out there in the world that we have to continue recycling coaches with really bad backgrounds.<\/p>\n

I look at Joel Quenneville, who was at the, the forefront of the Chicago Black Hawks sexual assaults investigation in 2021.<\/p>\n

Heinous things that were happening in Chicago that year, and Joel Quenneville’s coaching in Anaheim.<\/p>\n

Like, why are we allowing these coaches second, third, and fourth chances?<\/p>\n

I, I, I think that Edmonton would be better served to find somebody that just doesn’t have that kind of baggage coming into an, a, a critical time in an organization.<\/p>\n
