{"id":732564,"date":"2026-06-12T19:03:18","date_gmt":"2026-06-12T19:03:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/732564\/"},"modified":"2026-06-12T19:03:18","modified_gmt":"2026-06-12T19:03:18","slug":"concerns-raised-about-new-brunswicks-transition-to-new-virtual-health-care-system-new-brunswick","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/732564\/","title":{"rendered":"Concerns raised about New Brunswick\u2019s transition to new virtual health-care system &#8211; New Brunswick"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New Brunswick will have a new system to receive virtual health care in a few short weeks, but some have been raising questions about the transition.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>So far, 27 nurse practitioners have been hired to staff Virtual Care NB, the new platform replacing eVisitNB.<\/p>\n<p>A group of nurse practitioners wrote a letter to New Brunswick\u2019s health minister, John Dornan, to raise concerns about the rate of pay, as well as conditions that may impede their ability to respond to larger volumes of patients.<\/p>\n<p>Dornan addressed some of the concerns with reporters on Thursday, saying he didn\u2019t respond to the letter as it was unsigned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey did provide some legitimate concerns and we took those to the Foundever company. We communicate with them very well. I think we\u2019ve addressed most of the concerns that they raised,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe vendor is responsible for \u2026 paying their employees. That\u2019s not my business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"170\" height=\"225\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/national.jpg\" alt=\"Get breaking Canada news delivered to your inbox as it happens so you won't miss a trending story.\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tGet breaking National news<\/p>\n<p>Get breaking Canada news delivered to your inbox as it happens so you won&#8217;t miss a trending story.<\/p>\n<p>One of the primary concerns was the introduction of a 20-minute limit on patient consultations, as well as the appointment-based nature of Virtual Care NB compared to eVisit\u2019s \u201cvirtual waiting room.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The provider, Foundever Assistance Services Corp., told Global News in a statement that the 20-minute appointment is a \u201cdeliberate design choice, not a constraint.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt protects time for patients to be heard and gives nurse practitioners the flexibility to manage documentation, variability, and the realities of virtual care \u2014 without compressing clinical work into the margins of their day,\u201d the statement says.<\/p>\n<p>While the association representing nurse practitioners in the province was not part of the group of nurses who sent the letter, their president says they have concerns, too.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\tMore on Canada<br \/>\n\t\t\tMore videos\n\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey didn\u2019t have clarification as to the appointment times, they didn\u2019t have clarification as to follow-up, they didn\u2019t have follow-up as to who was following the labs and the diagnostic test results,\u201d said Sharon Hamilton, president of Nurse Practitioners of New Brunswick.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are clinical aspects of the job that needed communication.
