The NFL has notified wide receiver Stefon Diggs<\/a> of its decision following an investigation into whether or not he violated the league\u2019s personal conduct policy.<\/p>\n

The NFL\u2019s investigation stemmed from assault accusations against Diggs that came from his former private chef.<\/p>\n

Diggs was charged with felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery but was found not guilty back in May<\/a> during a two-day trial.<\/p>\n

On Friday, the league notified Diggs it did not find sufficient evidence to prove he violated the league\u2019s personal conduct policy, which would have led to a suspension.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe NFL notified (free agent) WR Stefon Diggs today that it concluded its investigation and there is insufficient evidence to support a finding of a personal conduct policy violation,\u201d NFL Network\u2019s Ian Rapoport<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n

This will now fully clear the way for Diggs to sign with a new team, as squads were likely waiting to see if he would face any punishment before inking the veteran wideout.<\/p>\n

Diggs spent the 2025 campaign with the New England Patriots, where he totaled another 1,000-yard season and helped the team reach the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

Diggs also played a huge role in the development of quarterback Drake Maye<\/a>, who finished as the runner-up for the Most Valuable Player award during a season in which the young signal-caller took a huge step forward in his career.<\/p>\n

However, the Patriots cut Diggs earlier this offseason ahead of the second year of his contract.<\/p>\n

The reason behind that had to do with Diggs\u2019 cap hit ballooning to a number New England<\/a> wasn\u2019t comfortable paying. The two sides tried to work something out, but to no avail.<\/p>\n

Head coach Mike Vrabel recently said a reunion with Diggs likely isn\u2019t in the cards right now, but he didn\u2019t completely rule it out, either.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we\u2019re probably at the number that we would need right now,\u201d Vrabel said of a possible reunion with Diggs. \u201cI wouldn\u2019t say anything is off the table. We\u2019d want to add anybody that can help us. I\u2019m not going to give a percentage on it, but I think we\u2019re happy with where we\u2019re at right now, with the the numbers and the people in the receiver room.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since releasing Diggs, the Patriots have replaced him with A.J. Brown<\/a>, who was acquired in a blockbuster trade<\/a> with the Philadelphia Eagles<\/a>, and they also have Romeo Doubs<\/a>.<\/p>\n
