It\u2019s official: a second commercial air travel hub for the Greater Montreal area is opening on Monday.<\/p>\n

Commercial passenger flights will be operating at Montr\u00e9al Metropolitan Airport on Monday, June 15, 2026, with the opening of a new 21,000-square-metre terminal in Saint-Hubert.<\/p>\n

This historic moment will be highlighted by the first commercial flights taking off and landing at the new terminal, along with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony.<\/p>\n

Are there two airports in Montreal?<\/p>\n

The new terminal reintroduces scheduled passenger service to the historic airport, which originally served as Montreal\u2019s main aviation hub before operations were moved to Dorval in 1940.<\/p>\n

Designed to handle up to four million passengers annually, the facility aims to improve air access for more than three million residents across Montreal, Mont\u00e9r\u00e9gie and the Eastern Townships.<\/p>\n

The terminal includes 9 gates, 900 seats and two baggage carousels, with construction beginning in August 2023 and reaching completion after several delays pushed back its initial opening timeline.<\/p>\n

Porter Airlines and Pascan Aviation will be the first carriers to operate from the site, offering domestic routes across Canada. Around 30 daily flights are expected, serving up to 12 destinations at launch.<\/p>\n

Where is the new Montreal airport?<\/p>\n

The MET \u2013 Montreal Metropolitan Airport (formerly Saint-Hubert Airport) is located at 5700 Route de l’A\u00e9roport, Longueuil, QC J3Y 8Y9, Canada.<\/p>\n

To improve connectivity, an express shuttle service will link the Longueuil\u2013Universit\u00e9-de-Sherbrooke m\u00e9tro station directly to the airport.<\/p>\n
