{"id":733098,"date":"2026-06-13T00:36:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-13T00:36:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/733098\/"},"modified":"2026-06-13T00:36:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-13T00:36:09","slug":"762-city-of-surrey-employees-made-a-base-salary-of-more-than-100k-in-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/733098\/","title":{"rendered":"762 City of Surrey employees made a base salary of more than $100K in 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>              762 City of Surrey employees made a base salary of more than $100K in 2025<\/p>\n<p class=\"pubStamp\">Published 4:15 pm Friday, June 12, 2026<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s great pay if you can get it.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, 762 City of Surrey employees made a base salary of more than $100,000.<\/p>\n<p>Of those, 23 made more than $200,000, four made over $300,000, and one \u2013 city manager Rob Costanzo \u2013 was paid a base salary over $400,000.<\/p>\n<p>These figures don\u2019t include taxable and other benefits including vacation, sick gratuity payments, performance pay, transit rebate incentive payments, banked overtime, retirement allowances and vehicle allowances \u201cetc.,\u201d according to a 2025 Statement of Financial Information (SOFI)<a href=\"https:\/\/www.surrey.ca\/sites\/default\/files\/corporate-reports\/CR_2026-R120.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> report coming before council<\/a> on Monday, June 15.<\/p>\n<p>Nor do the figures include amounts paid by taxpayers for employees\u2019 annual professional association and membership fees, conferences, training, seminars and travel related to City of Surrey business.<\/p>\n<p>Costanzo\u2019s overall compensation in 2025 was a base salary of $426,821 with $122,277 in taxable and other benefits and $14,921 in expenses paid above that, for a total compensation package of $564,019.<\/p>\n<p>Other biggest city hall earners were finance manager Kam Grewal; parks, recreation and culture manager Laurie Cavan; manager of engineering Scott Neuman and corporate services manager Joey Brar.<\/p>\n<p>Grewal\u2019s base salary was $321,463 with $61,586 in benefits and $8,571 in expenses for a total package of $391,620 while Cavan\u2019s compensation in 2025 was a base salary of $314,307 with $52,875 in benefits and $3,583 for a total $370,765.<\/p>\n<p>Next up, Neuman was paid a base salary of $303,267 plus $50,511 in benefits and $679 in expenses (total $354,457) and Brar\u2019s salary was $302,221 with $27,624 in benefits and $1,816 in expenses.<\/p>\n<p>The consolidated total compensation of all City of Surrey employees who were paid $75,000 or less was $72,243,373 with $2,678,628 in benefits and $195,272 in expenses while the consolidated total base salary remuneration for all City of Surrey employees in 2025 combined was $240,580,825 with $15,686,578 in benefits and $1,367,961 in expenses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"762 City of Surrey employees made a base salary of more than $100K in 2025 Published 4:15 pm&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":733099,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[194299],"tags":[49,48,87674],"class_list":["post-733098","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-surrey","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-surrey"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/733098","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=733098"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/733098\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/733099"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=733098"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=733098"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=733098"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
