A woman remained unconscious in hospital Friday after an SUV struck her in downtown Montreal, according to police, who are still searching for the driver.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred shortly before 3 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Ren\u00e9-L\u00e9vesque Blvd. W. and St-Laurent Blvd. in the Ville-Marie borough, a statement from the Montreal police said.<\/p>\n
The vehicle is believed to be a dark-coloured Hyundai Tucson from between 2022 and 2025. It was travelling eastbound on Ren\u00e9-L\u00e9vesque when it struck a pedestrian.<\/p>\n
The woman was rushed to hospital with serious injuries and remains unconscious, police said.<\/p>\n
The vehicle briefly stopped after the collision and the driver got out before returning to the SUV and driving away.<\/p>\n
Police are now seeking a Black man in his 30s with a black beard.<\/p>\n
The case is being handled by the force\u2019s Collision Investigation Unit, which appealed to the public for information that could help identify the driver.<\/p>\n
Anyone who has information about the vehicle is asked to contact 911 or their local police station. Rewards of up to $5,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.<\/p>\n
