She stands accused of breaching three provincial standards related to the practice of nursing, as well as the Canadian Nurses Association\u2019s 2017 Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses.<\/p>\n According to a statement of allegations, O\u2019Leary was working as a registered nurse for a \u201cprogram\u201d \u2013 whose identity is redacted in documents prepared by the nursing regulator \u2013 at the time of her alleged professional misconduct between June 1, 2023 and June 3, 2024.<\/p>\n During that year, O\u2019Leary allegedly falsified records related to 426 in-home patient visits and 111 patient telephone calls.<\/p>\n In some cases, O\u2019Leary is accused of documenting \u201cnumerous\u201d in-home patient visits and patient phone calls that she didn\u2019t make at all. In other cases, she allegedly made patient calls but documented instead that she had done in-home patient visits.<\/p>\n \u201cBy falsifying records relating to her nursing practice and receiving and accepting payment from the program for nursing services which she knew she did not provide, Ms. O\u2019Leary engaged in fraudulent, dishonest and unethical behaviour,\u201d reads the statement of allegations.<\/p>\n Morning Email Telegraph-Journal<\/p>\n Thanks for signing up!<\/p>\n Article content<\/p>\n Advertisement 3<\/p>\n This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.<\/p>\n Article content<\/p>\n None of the allegations have yet to be tested before the nursing regulator\u2019s disciplinary committee.<\/p>\n According to her LinkedIn profile, O\u2019Leary lists \u201cMedavie Health Services\u201d as her employer during the period where she\u2019s alleged to have committed professional misconduct.<\/p>\n Medavie Health Services New Brunswick is contracted to manage the province\u2019s Extra-Mural Program, which provides home health services to New Brunswickers. That contract is with EM\/ANB Inc., a Part III entity funded by the Department of Health.<\/p>\n All Extra-Mural health-care professionals are salaried employees paid by EM\/ANB Inc. and do not bill the Department of Health directly, according to department spokesperson Morgan Bell.<\/p>\n Brunswick News asked both Medavie and the province\u2019s health department about the measures in place to ensure that Extra-Mural workers are performing their work as documented and whether there had been any additional measures put in place in wake of the allegations against O\u2019Leary.<\/p>\n Advertisement 4<\/p>\n This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.<\/p>\n Article content<\/p>\n The health department referred those questions to Medavie, \u201cwhich is responsible for the operations and staffing of its services.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe do not comment on current or former employees, employment matters, or personal information relating to identifiable individuals,\u201d Medavie Health Services spokesperson Christianna Williston said in an email.<\/p>\n Efforts by Brunswick News to reach O\u2019Leary over the course of two days were unsuccessful.
