Pascal Vincent just made a very interesting statement involving one of the Montreal Canadiens organization’s important young players.<\/p>\n

David Reinbacher<\/a> would benefit from spending more time with the Laval Rocket, believes Pascal Vincent, who coached the Montreal Canadiens prospect over the past two seasons.<\/p>\n

It was on The Sick Podcast that the former coach shared his thoughts.<\/p>\n

An interesting assessment of the situation from the man who worked closely with the young defenseman for two years.<\/p>\n

Vincent first pointed to a key element in the discussion.<\/p>\n

Reinbacher, the fifth overall pick in 2023, has had a disrupted development path over the past few years.<\/p>\n

His message regarding the player’s needs was clear.<\/p>\n

“He missed two years, he needs time,” Vincent said about the prospect.<\/p>\n

The idea would be to prioritize a major role in Laval.<\/p>\n

According to him, that would be preferable to limited ice time with the Canadiens at this stage.<\/p>\n

But the coach had plenty of praise for Reinbacher’s talent.<\/p>\n

His hockey sense, shot, and vision stand out, as does his execution under pressure.<\/p>\n

Adam Engstrom<\/a> appears closer to an NHL role than David Reinbacher<\/p>\n

The situation is very different for another prospect.<\/p>\n

Vincent believes Adam Engstrom is ready for a full-time NHL role.<\/p>\n

He acknowledges there is significant competition on Montreal’s blue line, but he believes the young defenseman is NHL-ready.<\/p>\n

At this stage, Engstrom appears closer to earning a regular spot than Reinbacher, at least according to Pascal Vincent.<\/p>\n

Both young players will nevertheless be pushing for a roster spot in 2026-27.<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen how Kent Hughes will manage this surplus of defensive talent.<\/p>\n

Reinbacher will get his opportunity at training camp, there is no doubt about that.<\/p>\n

But according to his former coach, an extended stint in Laval may be the best path for his development.<\/p>\n
