A TNA Wrestling star has officially retired as of tonight\u2019s August 15 Emergence event taking place in Baltimore, Maryland.<\/p>\n
Among the matches on the card for the show was one between Mike Santana and Sami Callihan.<\/p>\n
The match had the added stipulation that if Callihan was to lose, he would retire.<\/p>\n
Santana did end up scoring the win, meaning the official retirement of Sami Callihan.<\/p>\n
Callihan, 37, kicked off his career in 2006, largely making his name in hardcore matches for Combat Zone Wrestling.<\/p>\n
In 2013, he signed with WWE<\/a> NXT, where he spent nearly three years working under the name Solomon Crowe.<\/p>\n Released by WWE in late 2015, he returned to the indies as well as becoming a prominent name in bigger promotions such as Lucha Underground and MLW.<\/p>\n In late 2017, he joined TNA<\/a>, then known as Impact Wrestling, going on to become the promotion\u2019s World Champion in October 2019, winning the title from Brian Cage in a steel cage match.<\/p>\n He held the title for 79 days, dropping it to Tessa Blanchard, the first ever \u2013 and so far only \u2013 female winner of the title at Hard To Kill 2020.<\/p>\n Callihan has remained prominent in TNA since then, but that was his only title run with the promotion. He\u2019s also been working in backstage roles for the promotion for a while, in addition to being an active wrestler.<\/p>\n He founded and runs The Wrestling Revolver, one of the top indies in the US.<\/p>\n After his retirement match tonight, he tweeted:<\/p>\n Everything good in my life is because of wrestling. It was a pleasure.
