The staff\u00a0for the television anime<\/a> of Tadatoshi Fujimaki<\/a>‘s Kill Blue<\/a> manga announced on Saturday that kumi Hasegawa is joining the cast as Mai Otohime, a marine sports prodigy (known as the “Mermaid Queen”) with both a shy, petite “Chibi-hime” side and a bold “Gyaru-hime” side. Viz Media<\/a> is publishing<\/a> the manga digitally and<\/a> in print, and it describes the first volume:<\/p>\n

Hiro Kaburagi<\/a>\u00a0(Great Pretender<\/a>, Hozuki’s Coolheadedness<\/a>, My Little Monster<\/a>) is directing the anime at CUE<\/a>, and Miho Daid\u014dji<\/a> (animation director for Kuroko’s Basketball<\/a>\u00a0TV anime’s 3 seasons and Last Game film) is designing the characters. South Korean girl group aespa<\/a> is performing the anime’s opening theme song “ATTITUDE,” while South Korean boy band RIIZE<\/a> is performing the ending theme song “KILL SHOT.”<\/p>\n

This is the first television series for which CUE is serving as the main animation production studio. Internet service and game developer DMM<\/a> established<\/a> CUE in 2023 with Production I.G<\/a>‘s former executive officer and production manager Rui Kuroki<\/a> as president and CEO.<\/p>\n

The anime premiered on TV Tokyo<\/a>, TV Osaka<\/a>, TV Aichi<\/a>, TV Setouchi<\/a>, TV Hokkaido<\/a>, and TVQ<\/a> on April 11, and on AT-X<\/a> on April 17. The anime also began streaming in Japan on April 11. Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service and Netflix<\/a> is streaming<\/a> an English dub<\/a> for the series.<\/p>\n

The series is also streaming on Netflix, Crunchyroll<\/a>, Amazon Prime Video<\/a>, Rakuten<\/a> Viki<\/a>, Plex<\/a>, the It’s Anime FAST Channel on Samsung TV Plus<\/a> and Vizio WatchFree+, and on the It’s Anime YouTube<\/a> channel in North America.<\/p>\n

Fujimaki (Kuroko’s Basketball) launched<\/a> the manga in Shueisha<\/a>‘s Weekly Shonen Jump<\/a> in April 2023, and ended<\/a> it on September 1. The manga’s 13th and final compiled book volume shipped on December 4. A novel adaptation titled Kill Ao Secret Report (Kill Blue Secret Report) by Kiyoko Hoshi also shipped on December 4.<\/p>\n

Viz Media released the sixth volume in print on April 7. MANGA Plus<\/a> is also releasing the manga digitally.<\/p>\n
