The 28-year-old is coming off a difficult 2025-26 campaign, finishing with 18 goals and 46 points in 72 games. He even found himself scratched at times, leading many around the league to believe a change of scenery could benefit both the player and the Blues.<\/p>\n

From the Oilers\u2019 perspective, the appeal is obvious. Kyrou\u2019s speed, skill, and offensive upside could provide valuable scoring support behind Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl<\/a> while strengthening Edmonton\u2019s top-six forward group.<\/p>\n

However, the Oilers may not be the only team with interest.<\/p>\n

According to insider David Pagnotta<\/a>, the New York Islanders<\/a> are also looking to add more speed to their forward corps. A pairing of Kyrou and Mathew Barzal<\/a> could give the Islanders another dangerous offensive threat while helping improve their transition game, making them a potential competitor in any trade discussions.<\/p>\n

The challenge, however, is making the finances work.<\/p>\n

Edmonton remains tight against the salary cap and still has important contract decisions ahead. Adding Kyrou\u2019s $8.125 million cap hit would almost certainly require the Oilers to move significant salary in return, whether through a major contract or multiple roster pieces.<\/p>\n
