\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> is down to a dozen bouts on its
\ntentpole pay-per-view card.<\/p>\n

At the morning
\nUFC 319<\/a> weigh-ins on Friday, former welterweight Bryan
\nBattle<\/a> weighed in at 190 pounds ahead of his 185-pound match
\nwith Nursulton
\nRuziboev<\/a>. While Battle was initially handed a 30% fine of his
\npurse, the organization has
\nelected<\/a> to cancel the fight entirely. This is not the first
\ntime Battle has missed weight, as he becomes one of a small number
\nof athletes over the years to come in heavy in two different
\ndivisions.<\/p>\n

In Battle\u2019s last time out against Randy
\nBrown<\/a>, he clocked in at 175 pounds, or four pounds above the
\n171-pound cap for that weight category. While he prevailed, it
\nmarked his second weight miss in the promotion\u2014he previously came
\nin two pounds heavy before knocking out Gabriel
\nGreen<\/a> in 2023. In his return to middleweight, where he fought
\ntwice with the UFC before dropping down, Battle again exceeded his

\nThe former welterweight joins a number of names throughout
\npromotional history that missed weight across multiple divisions.
\nThe club whose membership includes names like Anthony
\nJohnson<\/a>, Thiago
\nAlves<\/a>, Charles
\nOliveira<\/a>, Ray Borg<\/a> and
\nJohn
\nLineker<\/a> adds one more to the list due to Battle\u2019s inability to
\nreach the 170- or 185-pound maximums.<\/p>\n

Battle initially started his amateur career as a heavyweight, only
\nto slim down to 205 pounds and beat names like Impa
\nKasanganay<\/a> and Cody
\nBrundage<\/a> on the amateur circuits. When he turned pro in 2019,
\nthe Charlotte, North Carolina, local relocated himself to
\nmiddleweight, where he amassed his first five wins opposite his
\nlone stoppage loss\u2014an armbar to Nickalas
\nMartino<\/a> in his sophomore outing.<\/p>\n

The athlete trained out of Hayastan joined the 29th season of \u201cThe
\nUltimate Fighter\u201d at middleweight in 2021. A pair of wins under
\nTeam Volkanovski elevated him to the finals, where he earned the
\nUFC contract by beating Gilbert
\nUrbina<\/a> to wrap up the 185-pound TUF bracket. His lone setback
\nthus far in the Octagon other than poking Ange Loosa<\/a> in
\nthe eye to force a no contest is a decision loss to Rinat
\nFakhretdinov<\/a> in 2022.<\/p>\n

UFC 319 will continue on Saturday at the United Center in Chicago
\nwith its main event still intact, a middleweight championship
\ncollision between Dricus Du
\nPlessis<\/a> and Khamzat
\nChimaev<\/a>. The co-headliner sees Lerone
\nMurphy<\/a> try to stave off newcomer Aaron Pico<\/a>
\nat 145 pounds, while other marquee tilts include Carlos
\nPrates<\/a> vs. Geoff Neal<\/a> at
\nwelterweight and a flyweight contest pitting Tim Elliott<\/a>
\nagainst Kai
