We have an update regarding a potential major acquisition for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.<\/p>\n

As the draft approaches, a Quebec-born prospect could end up within reach of the Montreal Canadiens: Maddox Dagenais, the forward from the Quebec Remparts.<\/p>\n

The NHL Draft will take place later this month.<\/p>\n

The event is scheduled for June 26 and 27, and every team will have to make its selections, while Kent Hughes will obviously have a major decision of his own to make.<\/p>\n

For the Canadiens, the situation depends on one key factor.<\/p>\n

If the club keeps its 28th overall pick, it will have to select a player.<\/p>\n

That’s where Dagenais’ name comes into play.<\/p>\n

The Quebec forward would be an intriguing option if he slips to that spot.<\/p>\n

His profile fits well with the team’s needs.<\/p>\n

Dagenais is a talented and physical center with an imposing frame at 6-foot-4 and 196 pounds.<\/p>\n

The Quebec native also posted a 51.3% success rate in the faceoff circle.<\/p>\n

His defensive game may still need some work.<\/p>\n

However, his skating ability and size help him cover his man and the ice effectively.<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen whether the Canadiens will even keep the pick.<\/p>\n

Montreal is looking to improve immediately, which could encourage the team to trade it.<\/p>\n

But if the Canadiens hold onto the selection and Dagenais is still available, drafting a big hometown center would certainly excite many fans.<\/p>\n
