{"id":737441,"date":"2026-06-15T03:08:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-15T03:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/737441\/"},"modified":"2026-06-15T03:08:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T03:08:08","slug":"several-people-assaulted-with-a-weapon-vehicles-damaged-in-east-toronto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/737441\/","title":{"rendered":"Several people assaulted with a weapon, vehicles damaged in east Toronto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A 41-year-old man is facing 19 charges after allegedly assaulting people with a weapon and damaging several vehicles in Toronto\u2019s east end.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Toronto police say at about 8:45 p.m. last Friday they responded to several calls for assaults near Coxwell and Danforth avenues.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Tharshan Thaparanantham, 41, of no-fixed-address, was arrested and charged with one count each of possession of a weapon, assault cause bodily harm, and obstruct peace officer, two counts each of mischief to property under $5000 and fail to comply with probation order, and 12 counts of assault with a weapon. The charges have not been tested in court.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">He was scheduled to appear in bail court on June 13.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">This assault investigation is ongoing and investigators believe that there are more witness and victims.
