Construction of the\u00a0Bearspaw\u00a0South Feeder Main Replacement Project\u00a0remains\u00a0on\u00a0schedule\u00a0and the project continues to achieve\u00a0significant milestones.\u00a0Stage A construction of the\u00a0Bearspaw\u00a0South Feeder Main is now\u00a051 per cent complete.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
As\u00a0construction for\u00a0Stage\u00a0A\u00a0progresses,\u00a0we are using a\u00a0method\u00a0called two-pass\u00a0microtunneling.\u00a0The tunnel is being lined with a concrete carrier pipe\u00a0first,\u00a0then the new steel pipe will be installed.\u00a0The\u00a0concrete carrier pipe installation is\u00a055 per cent complete.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Stage B\u00a0construction update\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Stage B\u00a0construction\u00a0began last month using the open-cut construction method.\u00a0Initial\u00a0cross-connection work\u00a0on 77 Street N.W. and 83 Street N.W. between 33 and 34 Avenue N.W.\u00a0is\u00a0now complete.\u00a0Impacted\u00a0roadways\u00a0have been\u00a0paved\u00a0and\u00a0are now open.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Construction\u00a0on the\u00a0first\u00a0blocks to support the installation of the new feeder main\u00a0begins this week\u00a0along 34 Avenue\u00a0N.W.\u00a0at two locations\u00a0between\u00a079-80 Street N.W. and 85-86 Street N.W.\u00a0This\u00a0block\u00a0sequenced approach will allow roadways to be restored as construction progresses along 34 Avenue\u00a0N.W.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
The\u00a0new steel pipe is expected to begin arriving in Calgary\u00a0within one week\u00a0and will be installed\u00a0in the open-cut\u00a0trenches\u00a0rapidly.\u00a0Steel\u00a0pipe will continue to arrive in Calgary\u00a0over the coming\u00a0weeks\u00a0and teams will continue to\u00a0install pipe as it arrives\u00a0for both Stage A and Stage B of the project.\u00a0<\/p>\n
