\n\tEmmy winner Mark Hamill<\/a> (Star Wars) is joining the recurring cast of Peacock<\/a> and Sony Pictures Television\u2019s video game TV adaptation Twisted Metal<\/a>, for Season 3. Deadline can reveal exclusively that Hamill will play Pope Charlie\u00a0Kane, the leader of the Eastern Sovereignty and estranged father of Sweet Tooth (Joe Seanoa\/voice of Will Arnett).\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFor Mark Hamill to come into this world with us is amazing. He\u2019s someone I\u2019ve admired for a long time \u2014 a true legend who\u2019s influenced generations of actors. Being able to now call him a castmate is an incredible honor, and we\u2019re excited to see what he brings to the world of\u00a0Twisted Metal,\u201d executive producer and star Anthony Mackie said.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe half-hour\u00a0Twisted Metal\u00a0is based on the classic PlayStation game series. Season 1 follows John Doe (Mackie), a motor-mouthed outsider who is offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland.<\/p>\n

\n\tWith the help of Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz), a badass ax-wielding car thief, he\u2019ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including deranged clown Sweet Tooth who drives an all-too-familiar ice cream truck.<\/p>\n

\n\tSeason 2<\/a>\u00a0follows the revelations in the Season 1 finale. John and Quiet find themselves entering\u00a0the deadly Twisted Metal tournament<\/a>, a sinister demolition derby hosted by a mysterious man known as Calypso (Anthony Carrigan). As they try to survive an onslaught of dangerous new foes and familiar faces alike, including\u00a0the murderous Sweet Tooth<\/a>, things get complicated for John when he reunites with his long-lost sister, the vigilante Dollface (Tiana Okoye).<\/p>\n

\n\tDetails regarding the plot of Season 3 will be released at a later date. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe high-octane series was renewed for a third season in November.<\/a> Season 2 registered 993 million minutes viewed on Peacock and stands as Peacock\u2019s second highest-reaching original returning scripted season, the streamer revealed at the time of the show\u2019s renewal. At the time, it was also announced that David Reed<\/a>\u00a0(The Boys,\u00a0Supernatural) was taking over as showrunner and executive producer for Season 3 following Michael Jonathan Smith\u2019s exit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tReed\u00a0will executive\u00a0produce Twisted Metal alongside Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Arnett and Marc Forman (Electric Ave) also executive produce with Mackie (Make It Gravy Productions), Jason Spire (Inspire Entertainment), Peter Principato (Artists First), Asad Qizilbash from PlayStation Productions, and Hermen Hulst who is CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment\u2019s Studio Business.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe series is produced by Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.<\/p>\n

\n\tHamill is coming off a hot streak of films, recently starring opposite Tom Hiddleston in Mike Flanagan\u2019s Stephen King adaptation\u00a0The Life of Chuck\u00a0for Neon and Lionsgate\u2019s Stephen King adaptation of\u00a0The Long Walk which won the Robert Altman award for ensemble at this year\u2019s Independent Spirit Awards.\u00a0He was also a voice actor in Universal\u2019s Oscar-nominated\u00a0The Wild Robot\u00a0and Paramount\u2019s\u00a0SpongeBob: Search for SquarePants.<\/p>\n
