Julia Jacklin<\/a> has announced a new album, The Gem<\/a>. The Australian singer-songwriter will share the Pre Pleasure<\/a> follow-up on September 25 via her new label<\/a>, 4AD. Below, listen to the first single \u201cGet Away From Me (I Think I\u2019ll Love You Soon)<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to love and be loved, but I also want to be free. The tension between those two things has been the central question of my life,\u201d Jacklin said in press materials.\u201cThe Gem felt like a metaphor for the whole process, because a lot of it did feel like digging. I felt like I was doing it almost in the dark, just trusting I was going to find something.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Gem is titled after a pub and live music venue in Melbourne, where Jacklin moved from Sydney in 2017. She and her band recorded the album in a hotel room-turned-studio space located right above the bar. Jacklin will tour The Gem<\/a> across North America and Europe from October through early 2027.<\/p>\n
