SAN DIEGO \u2014 Joe Gibbs Racing brings a dominant road-course pedigree and the hottest driver in the NASCAR Cup Series to Naval Base Coronado this Sunday.<\/p>\n
Denny Hamlin arrives in San Diego seeking his fourth consecutive victory, a streak entirely achieved from the pole position. The last driver to win three straight races from the pole was Darrell Waltrip in 1981. Hamlin secured his 64th career win last weekend at Pocono Raceway, moving him into ninth on the all-time Cup Series wins list.<\/p>\n
Since making his 700th career start last season, Hamlin has recorded eight victories, trailing only Richard Petty (22) for the most wins after that milestone. Through 16 points-paying races this season, the driver of the No. 11 Toyota sits second in the standings with a series-leading 824 laps led and 365 fastest laps.<\/p>\n
Hamlin and his teammates will look to add to JGR\u2019s extensive road-course resume. The organization holds 16 Cup Series victories, 82 top-five finishes, and 10 pole awards on road courses.<\/p>\n
Christopher Bell enters Sunday as one of the field\u2019s top road-course threats. Bell holds three career Cup Series road-course victories and posted a 2.6 average finish across six road-course events last year.<\/p>\n
Bell\u2019s No. 20 Toyota will feature a special CRAFTSMAN Racing for a Miracle paint scheme designed by three patients from Rady Children\u2019s Hospital in San Diego. The design celebrates the 20th anniversary of the program, which will include a $100,000 donation from CRAFTSMAN to the Ace Hardware Foundation benefiting Children\u2019s Miracle Network Hospitals. Bell is looking to rebound after a late-race pit stop at Pocono relegated him to a 26th-place finish.<\/p>\n
Chase Briscoe continues to show speed on road courses in his second year driving the No. 19 Toyota for JGR. Briscoe, who finished fourth at Watkins Glen International last month, recorded three top-10 finishes on road courses in 2025. He heads to San Diego following a 12th-place finish at Pocono.<\/p>\n
Ty Gibbs rounds out the JGR lineup in the No. 54 Toyota. Gibbs has been one of the most consistent qualifiers in the series, starting inside the top 10 in his last 10 consecutive races. He holds a 9.8 average starting position this season and has earned seven top-five finishes in 22 career Cup Series road-course starts.<\/p>\n
